In July 2013, Dr. Steve Morse was appointed Director of the Hospitality and Tourism program in the College of Business at Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC. He is an economist and professor and is frequently quoted as an expert in hotel, restaurant, attractions, and tourism trends in leading news sources in the U.S. He tracks tourism trends in the Southeast and U.S. economies. From 2006 to 2013 he was on the faculty and director of the Tourism Institute at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
A native Georgian, he was raised on a family farm near Carrollton, GA and during college worked in hotels, restaurants, attractions, and tourism marketing organizations. He earned his B.S. from the University of Georgia, and his Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.
At the Nov. 20 AAL meeting, Dr. Morse will examine trends in the Sevier County tourism market for 2014 (YTD) including hotels, attractions, restaurants, and retail.

Cuts for Cancer: Southern Strandz, located at 113 Sugarfoot Way in PF, will be cutting hair and doing nails this Saturday, April 26, 2014 from 10-3. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to Relay for Life and qualifying hair will be donated to Locks For Love. Call 429-HAIR to make an appointment or you can drop in. Refreshments will available.
